USHMM Traveling Exhibit
In conjunction with the American Library Association (ALA), the US Holocaust Memorial Museum (USHMM) special traveling exhibit “Americans and the Holocaust” bolsters the project of remembrance and engagement by exploring relationships between events in Europe and the USA, ranging from news media coverage to refugee experiences. The exhibit kicked off a national tour at the Bozeman Public Library (BPL) where it was on display Summer 2022. The self-guided exhibit ushered visitors through a variety of stories, facts, and testimony in ways that shed light on the Holocaust and America then and now. It also opened up space for teacher workshops, MSU History student research presentations, and more.

Montana Hutterite Workshop (Oct '19)In this Montana Language Teachers conference + "German Heritage Speakers" workshop, we will look at the histories and connections between German heritage speakers in Montana. The workshop is for teachers across Montana and will assess various ways of incorporating cultural traditions such as food, cooking, and songs into pedagogical contexts. The workshop will feature a keynote from the photography Jill Brody who will share some of her experiences and photos from nearby Hutterite communities. Our special thanks goes out to Jill, our Hutterite neighbors, the Blue Haven Ranch and the AATG for their support.

German Campus Week: "Shaping Germany" (Oct '18)In a changing world, Germany is changing, too. Thanks to a generous grant from the German Embassy in Washington DC, MSU German will explore Germany's famous "Energiewende," a term which refers to the national push to produce cleaner, renewable energy sources. Along with our campus partner MSU Engineering, MSU German's Campus Week will showcase the new partnership with Kempten University in Germany as well as an expert panel, student poster presentation, and documentary film introducing Frei Otto's renowned, ecologically-designed Treehouse in Berlin.
